Bengaluru Stays Slow In The Process Of Smart City Implementation
Bengaluru is lagging behind in the smart city list because of the implementation of the seven projects under the proposed government scheme. Thus the projects is not performing well and is not utilizing the funds to be used for the projects.
Karnataka has continuously been failing since 2014 to build the projects on time and the funds allocated were used unwanted by which the urban development ministry start to withhold the funds for the development. They did not received the utilization certificate for the funds that have been allocated to each of the seven cities.
The Secretary of UDD (Urban Development Department) said that there has been a lack of coordination issue between the government departments which was resulting in the delay of the projects. Over the delay, the implementation over the last six to seven months have been in a steady progress with the scheme selected across all the seven cities.
Bengaluru is the economic city for Karnataka. After so much of debate and deliberation, the city entered in to the list of smart cities final round in the year 2015. Till now with the seven projects worth Rs.927.5 crore the proposed projects are still not yet completed.
Some of the project scheme includes the redevelopment of Shivajinagar bus stand, KR Market, drainage system cleaning for Ulsoor Lake, Malleswaram Market are stalled due to different authority department reasons.
